Welgevonden Game Reserve, situated in the heart of the Waterberg, boasts 35 000 hectares of unspoilt, malaria free bushveld. Welgevonden is a Dutch word meaning "Well Founded". The area will soon expand to approx 100,000 hectares with game fences being removed between Marakele National Park and Welgevonden.
The reserve is home to the big 5 as well as a vast array of other animals including giraffe, kudu, impala, wildebeest, red hartebeest, tsessebe, gemsbok, waterbuck, wild dogs, honeybadgers and bush pigs and is rich in birdlife. |
